Erdogan: it's unacceptable that Turkey can't have nuclear weapons

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said it was unacceptable for nuclear-armed states to forbid Ankara from obtaining its own nuclear weapons, but did not say whether Turkey had plans to obtain them.

"Some countries have missiles with nuclear warheads, not one or two. But (they tell us) we can’t have them. This, I cannot accept," he told his ruling AK Party members in Sivas.

He also said that Turkey would plan for economic growth of 5% in 2020. "I am giving a growth level for 2020, we will focus on that. We will definitely plan a growth rate of 5%," Reuters cited Erdogan as saying.

The government's medium-term program, announced a year ago, forecast economic growth of 2.3% this year and 3.5% in 2020. Previous growth forecasts had been 5.5% for both 2019 and 2020.
