Erdogan urges US to stop aiding Syrian Kurds

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call with his US counterpart Donald Trump to discuss Operation Olive Branch in Syria's Afrin, Turkish presidential sources said.

In the phone call, Erdogan reiterated Turkey's determination to clear its southern border of all terrorists.

He underlined that the operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey's rights based on international law, UN Security Council resolutions, its right to self-defense under the UN charter and respect for Syria's territorial integrity.

President Erdogan also told Trump that the US must stop aiding terrorists in the region and do this as soon as possible, Daily Sabah reported.

Operation Olive Branch was launched on January 20.
