European Union Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell acknowledged anti-Russian sanctions fatigue among European countries citizens.
According to him, because of the soon winter the Europeans are primarily concerned about the gas market situation.
"Russia cannot be allowed to use sanctions fatigue among some of our countries. This test of strength will continue. We must speak to our citizens and explain our responsibility in the current crisis [in Ukraine], and also emphasize the importance of efforts to eliminate our strategic energy dependence on Russia," he said, speaking at the EU inter-parliamentary conference in Prague.
Borrell noted that the energy crisis was caused by not just EU sanctions imposed on Russian coal and oil, but Russia's actions, which "turns energy into a weapon."
