Today European Wrestling Championships kicked off at the Palace of Sports and Youth named after Ali Aliyev in Kaspiysk, Dagestan.
Competitions will last until may 6.
Athletes from 35 countries will compete in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, as well as in women's competitions.
10 sets of medals will be up for grabs.
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated participants on the begining of this event. According to Russian leader, the coutry pays a lot of attention to this sport.
President also stressed that the main goal of sport is to unite people and inspire new achievements. In conclusion, Vladimir Putin wished success and good luck to all participants.
