Explosion in Afghanistan, there are victims

The explosion occurred in the town of Mehtarlam in eastern Afghanistan's Laghman Province, killing one person and leaving eight people injured, the provincial governor’s spokesman Sarhadi Zwak said.

The incident took place after the vehicle of provincial council chief Tawos Adil hit an Improvised Explosive Device, Sputnik cited Zwak as saying.

​According to other media reports, those injured were hospitalized, but no details about their medical condition were disclosed.

To date, no group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
