There was an explosion outside a school in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don early on Thursday, and one person was injured, a law enforcement source said.
A man picked up an explosive device that detonated in his hands, according to police.
"The man picked up a suspicious object and it detonated. The man had his fingers blown off. He also received injuries to his abdomen. He was taken to hospital," RIA Novosti cited a source as saying.
Emergency services are at the scene, the school has been shut and the area has been cordoned off.
