The Prime Minister did not actually announce Armenia's withdrawal from the CSTO. This interpretation of Nikol Pashinyan’s words was given by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ararat Mirzoyan spoke in the presence of the head of state.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia urged not to perceive the prime minister’s loud statement as an announcement of withdrawal from the CSTO. Ararat Mirzoyan commented on Nikol Pashinyan’s words in his presence.

The ruling Civil Contract party said that the statement of the head of government was presented as a statement of withdrawal from the Organization, and asked the head of the Foreign Ministry to interpret Pashinyan’s words.

The diplomat recalled that a recording was made at the meeting, and it is possible to reconstruct what was actually said.

“The Prime Minister of Armenia did not say that we were leaving the CSTO. The Prime Minister said that we would decide when we would leave. But we would not return,”
