'Faith and Loyalty' in Belarusian Pogost

A number of activities were held in the Belarusian village of Pogost and in the town of Turov last week in the framework of the international project 'Faith and Loyalty', implemented by the regional public organization 'National-Cultural Autonomy of Belarusians of Moscow', together with the center for the history of diasporas of the History Faculty of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Executive Committee of Belarus in the Zhitkovichi district and the district office of the NGO 'Turov scientific and educational society'.

On August 19, the chairman of the NGO 'Belarusians of Moscow' Oksana Solopova handed the Turov cathedral an antique ark of the 19th century and a mid-seventeenth century Gospel from a retired colonel, a member of the working group of the 'Faith and Loyalty' project, a member of the NGO 'Belarusians of Moscow', a member of the artists Union of Russia, the candidate of pedagogical sciences Petr Kramarenko.

On Friday and Saturday, the International scientific-practical conference titled 'Forever in people's memory. Patriotism in the security system of the Union State of Russia and Belarus' was held in Turov and Pogost, the participants were welcomed by the chairman of the Executive Committee of the Zhitkovichi district, Dmitry Gaykevich, the head of the working group 'Faith and Loyalty' Alexander Golubev, the Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Vyacheslav Danilovich.

On Saturday, the memory corner dedicated to the heroic feat of Russian and Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War was opened in the Pogost library. In the evening there was a concert for the participants of the conference in the library. On Saturday, an exhibition of Moscow schoolchildren's drawings and a solo exhibition of paintings by Peter Kramarenko were opened in Pogost.

On Sunday, a liturgy and requiem were served in the Pogost Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in memory of the villagers who died during the Great Patriotic War.

The Russian Union of Veterans awarded Dmitry Gaykevich, Nicholay Saskevich and Lovchikov P.F. the medals '70 Years of Victory'.

After the meeting, Dmitry Gaydukevich, his deputy Leonid Volotovsky and the head of the department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the Zhitkovichi executive committee, Sergey Agievich, held a working meeting, during which they discussed the development of the transnational project 'Faith and Loyalty' until 2020.

The regional public organization 'the National-Cultural Autonomy of Belarusians of Moscow' is implementing the inter-ethnic project 'Faith and Loyalty' to strengthen the friendship between the fraternal peoples of Russia and Belarus, to preserve and increase the historical, cultural, Christian and patriotic traditions of the two countries.

The project was presented in Moscow in July 2016 with the support of the Moscow Department of national policy, inter-regional relations and tourism, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of Belarus.

The implementation of the project 'Faith and Loyalty' was possible through the initiative of the member of the NGO 'Belarusians of Moscow', Reserve Colonel Konstantin Golod. Today the rector of the Institute of Economics and Culture, Candidate of Military Sciences, a veteran of military intelligence, retired colonel Vladimir Seryakov, the secretary of the public association 'the Turov scientific and educational society' Nikolai Saskevich, Lieutenant General, retired Alexander Golubev, a retired colonel candidate of military Sciences, a veteran of military intelligence, a member of the Union of Russian writers, poet Vasily Lovchikov, retired Major General Nikolay Saskevich, the head of the international department of the All-Russian society 'Russian Union of Veterans', retired colonel Dmitry Babijchuk, the board chairman of the Creative Production Union 'Reserve', retired captain, Alexander Ovsyannikov, and a retired colonel Dmitry Danilov actively participate in its activities.

The implementation of the project was possible thanks to the full support of the Zhitkovichi executive committee and the Ozeransk village council, as well as residents of the Pogost village.
