Finnish President Sauli Niinisto approved the resignation of the government at a meeting with the country's prime minister, Juha Sipila, the meeting was broadcast on the television channel MTV3.
"I am accepting [the government's resignation]," Niinisto said during a brief conversation with Sipila, as aired by the MTV3 broadcaster, Sputnik reports.
The government's resignation is taking place against the backdrop of unsuccessful attempts to reform the country's health care system and social services.
