Firefighters extinguish fire at Tbilisi used car market

Firefighters extinguished a fire that broke out in Tbilisi’s Isani district on Thursday, with the cause not immediately known, Georgia’s Emergency Management Service said.

The Service said no injuries were caused by the fire due to the “timely response” of the firefighter crews, who responded to the calls to the scene.

A used car market in the district was the location for the fire, with 15 crews of the emergency service called to subdue the fire.

Initially spreading to stacks of second-hand tyres and debris in an open location, the fire could have reached a nearby warehouse area, but firefighters were able to localise it in time.
