Firefighters stop wildfires spreading in Türkiye

Türkiye managed to block the spread of forest fires that broke out yesterday. The fires that broke out yesterday engulfed the forests of several provinces of the republic.

Turkish firefighters managed to stop the advance of forest fires in the province of Izmir. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic informed.

“Forest fires in Menderes, Torbali and Cesme districts of Izmir province, as well as in Balıkesir province, have been taken under control. Suspects have been detained in connection with the fires in Menderes and Cesme. Those whose actions led to the fires will be punished accordingly,”

– Ibrahim Yumakli said.

He noted that a cigarette butt caused the fire in Cesme, and  Menderes became engulfed in flames due to the carelessness of people.

According to media reports, 350 hectares of forest burned in Cheshme.

Yesterday, forests caught fire in three provinces of Türkiye, as a result of which the highway between the city of Selcuk and the resort of Kusadasi was blocked. Residents of a number of settlements had to be evacuated. Helicopters were involved in extinguishing the fires.
