Foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia sign declaration

The Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia have adopted a joint declaration following their 5th trilateral meeting in Tbilisi, which reaffirmed their commitment to the development of tripartite regional cooperation and noted the importance of the development of transport and energy projects, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan said.

"There is a need to respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of internationally recognized borders of states, as well as to move away from from aggressive policies in order to preserve peace and stability in the region," abc.az cited the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, as saying.

According to the minister, "the geographical location of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey creates good conditions for receiving benefits through the creation of a competitive transit potential."

"After the implementation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Azerbaijan has initiated such projects as TANAP, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, and the new international sea trade port in Alyat. These are an important segment of the East-West transport corridor," the minister noted.
