Foreign ministers of Iran and China hold talks in Munich

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi, held a meeting in Munich, where they discussed the situation in Syria, as well as bilateral relations.

Wang Yi said that all parties should "abandon military methods in order to settle the Syrian issue by political means". He also expressed hope the meeting of the Syrian Support Group in Munich could favor "important overwhelming consensus on a truce to create conditions for the speediest resumption of peace talks."

"I hope that Iran will play an active and constructive role here," RIA Novosti cited him as saying.

Speaking about the relations between China and Iran, the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the sides should deepen cooperation.

Zarif said that important progress has been made during the visit of the Chinese President Xi Jinping to Tehran.
