Former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziyev has been arrested, according to the country's State Committee for National Security, Azertac reports.
On January 26, Abylgaziyev was summoned for interrogation to the State Committee for National Security, which was followed by his detention.
He is charged with illegal enrichment. A criminal case could be initiated against Abylgaziyev in connection with the latest agreements on the development of the Kumtor field.
Abylgaziyev served as prime minister in 2018-2020 and resigned on June 15, 2020 amid a scandal over the sale of radio frequencies.
