Kyrgyz group of scientists led by the director of the Institute of Seismology, doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences Kanatbek Abdrahmatovom, has found fossils of ancient giraffes on the territory of Kochkor in the Naryn region of Kyrgyzstan. Their age is about 6 million years.
According to the researcher, in this area we have never found fossils of ancient giraffes before, only the remains of rhinos and birds. "Fossils indicate that giraffes, who lived 6 million years ago, were twice smaller than they are today,’’ NEWS.am cites Abdrahmatov.
