According to recent data voiced by the Ministry of Ecology of Azerbaijan, fires in two gas wells at Platform №10 at the Guneshli gas and oil field have been extinguished, but fires in another four wells are still continuing.
The deputy director of the National Environmental Monitoring Department under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Matanat Avazova, said that there are a total of 30 wells at the platform, two of which are out of order, 21 are oil wells, and 7 are gas wells. She also added that the accident had not caused huge damage to the environment of the Caspian Sea. Samples from the water are being taken to monitor the situation, APA reports.
