France convenes UN Security Council meeting on Azerbaijani-Armenian border settlement

France is convening a meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with the aggravation of the situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.

"France will bring the issue on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border to the UN Security Council, which it currently chairs," a spokesman for the Elysee Palace said after a telephone conversation between French President Emmanuel Macron and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan earlier today.

According to the spokesman, the French leader is "at the disposal of the parties to ensure that all issues related to this conflict are resolved exclusively through negotiations."

On September 12, 2022, starting at late night, the units of the armed forces of Armenia held large-scale provocations in the directions of Dashkasan, Kalbajar and Lachin of Azerbaijan-Armenia state border. Necessary measures were taken to suppress the firing points of the Armenian Armed Forces and to prevent the expansion of the scale of hostilities.
