Funeral of President Raisi take place in Iran

Today, the funeral of President Ebrahim Raisi, who died on May 19 in a helicopter crash in the mountains, took place in Iran.

The president was buried in his hometown of Mashhad, in the mausoleum of Imam Reza, one of the shrines of Iranian Shiites. Millions of people came to bid farewell to the Iranian leader. The procession stretched along the city streets.

Earlier, farewell ceremonies for the head of the Islamic Republic were held in the cities of Tabriz, Qom, as well as in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

In the crash, eight people died along with Raisi, including the Iranian Foreign Minister. In connection with the tragedy on May 20, five days of mourning were declared in Iran.
