GDP of Georgia rises by 2.7%

The GDP of Georgia in 2016 amounted to $14.3 billion, exceeding the previous year’s figure by 2.7%, according to the information of the National Statistics Office of Georgia 'Geostat'.

The GDP deflator was 4%. 9.9% of GDP was accumulated by hotel business and restaurant business, 9.3% by the finance industry, 8.1% by construction, 7.6% by mining industry, 6.7% by real estate, renting and customer services.

The most significant decline was in communication (-0.9%) and transport (-0.2%). The most important sectors are industry (17.1%), trade (16.3%), transport and communications (10.1%), agriculture and fisheries (9.3%), public administration (9.1%), construction (8.3%), real estate transactions, renting and customer service (6.6%), as well as health and social protection (5.8%), Sputnik Georgia reports.
