A meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic-speaking States (OTS) was held in Gabala today.

Addressing the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov said that the meeting was held as part of the 12th summit of the Council of Heads of State of the OTS.

According to him, the OTS Foreign Ministers will discuss cooperation in the spheres of energy security, economy, and digital skills.

The diplomat also emphasized the importance of the Gabala Declaration, noting that the documents to be adopted at the summit would further strengthen cooperation within the OTS.

The minister recalled that Azerbaijan had fully restored its sovereignty in 2023 and that contacts with Armenia continue. According to him, the summit held in Washington and the signed documents have historical significance.

"Regional peace and stability should serve the social well-being and progress of peoples. For our cooperation to be more sustainable, we should also strengthen economic ties," Bayramov said.

The member states of the OTS are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan. Hungary, Turkmenistan and the unrecognized Republic of Northern Cyprus are observers.
