Ganna Garchonak becomes champion of Trampolining World Cup in Baku

Today, Belarusian gymnast Ganna Garchonak became the champion in the individual women's program of the Trampolining World Cup in Baku.

Her compatriot, Tatiana Pyatrenya, took third place. Kat Driscoll from Great Britain won the silver medal.

Ganna Garchonak, in an interview with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, admitted that she did not expect to get two gold medals at the Baku World Cup (before this, together with Tatyana Pyatrenya, she became a champion in synchronized exercises). "I'm very pleased with my performance. For me, this result and these medals are a great gift. I think my family is also happy, they watched the live broadcast," she said.

Garchonak noted that Baku organizes competitions at a very high level. "I've been here at the first European Games, both then and now everything is organized great, and the arena in Baku is very hospitable. Basically, the organization of the tournaments in Azerbaijan is one of the best in the world," she assessed.

Speaking about Azerbaijani-Belarusian sports relations, she recalled that a number of Belarusian athletes are performing for Azerbaijan today. "Our school has proved itself well in Baku," she stated, adding that strong Belarusian gymnasts are going to Azerbaijan today.

One of the participants in the finals, Ukrainian athlete Marina Kiyko, who won the silver medal at the previous World Cup in synchronized performances together with Natalia Moskvina, stated that she is quite pleased with her performance. "Of course there is a lot of work to do," she admitted.

Kiyko highlighted the level of conduction of this tournament. "The organization is simply awesome – this is the best organization of competitions I have ever seen," she noted.
