Garibashvili reports unprecedented economic growth in Georgia

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said Georgia’s average real Gross Domestic Product increase of 10.3% between January and July was an “unprecedented economic growth worldwide”.

Speaking at the cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister said Georgia had managed to “have a double-digit economic growth, which, of course, is very welcome”.

The head of the Government also stressed the country’s exports had increased by 40%, while remittances had grown by 46.8%, exceeding $300 million, in the reported period.

"The turnover in the business sector has also increased significantly, as well as the number of employed people both in the first and the second quarters of this year”, Garibashvili said, noting the turnover of the business sector had increased by 25% between January-June.

The estimated real Gross Domestic Product of Georgia grew by 9.7% in July year-on-year, while the average real GDP increased by 10.3% between January-July, the latest data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia showed last week.
