American company Frontera Resources stated that a large gas field has been discovered in the east of Georgia. According to the company, the reserves of the discovered field amount to 3.8 trillion cubic meters of gas. It is planned that within five years Georgia will supply gas to Turkey the EU and other countries.
In turn, the Georgian Energy Ministry was asked to provide official data on the gas field, APA reports.
"The American company has been making these statements for three years already. Initially, they talked about 43 billion cubic meters, followed by 1 trillion, and now it is already about 3.8 trillion cubic meters of gas. In this regard, we are waiting for official confirmation," Deputy Minister Mariam Valishvili said.
