The North Caucasus already can be called a source of Olympic champions, and the region has not fully implemented its athletic potential, a former football player, an Honored Coach of the USSR, the State Duma deputy Valery Gazayev said.
According to him, they need to build the infrastructure, which would allow Russian teams to train in sports included in the program of Olympics and Paralympics.
"We also need to develop in the North Caucasus those sports traditionally not represented in the program, because experience shows that in the Caucasus, they can make progress in any sport in a short term," TASS cited him as saying.
Ex-coach expressed confidence that the systematic approach will help the North Caucasus to raise Olympic champions in all sports.
