"General Manvel" in intensive care unit

The health condition of former MP of the National Assembly of Armenia, participant of the occupation of the Azerbaijani territories, retired General Manvel Grigoryan sharply deteriorated late night at the Yerevan hospital for convicts, Grigoryan’s attorney Levon Baghdasaryan said.

Now Grigoryan is in intensive care unit of the civilian hospital in Yerevan.

"[His] situation was so bad that the amount of sugar in [his] blood was not showing," News.am cited the lawyer as saying.

On June 3, Manvel Grigoryan was transferred from a Yerevan civilian hospital to a Yerevan penitentiary, and then to the Yerevan hospital for convicts. Grigoryan’s legal defenders claim that he was transferred to the civilian hospital without the consent of doctors.

Grigoryan was detained on June 16 after the searches by the National Security Service, on suspicion of illegal acquisition and possession of weapons and ammunition. On December 21, 2018, the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction had released Grigoryan from custody on an AMD 25 million bail.  But in March, the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction granted the Special Investigation Service’s (SIS) petition to extend for two more months Gridoryan's custody.
