The Head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Andrei Kartapolov, summarized the first results of the Russian operation in Syria in his speech to reporters gathered at the National Control Centre of Defense.
According to him, the Air Forces made more than 60 sorties in three days, during which they attacked more than 50 objects of the infrastructure of the terrorist organization ‘Islamic State’.
‘’The strikes were made from the Hmeymim airbase on a daily basis on the entire depth of the territory of Syria. In three days we maintained to undermine the material base of the terrorists and to reduce significantly their combat potential," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
At the same time, the Russian armed forces are not going to rest on their laurels, ‘’We will not only continue the strikes of our forces, but will also increase their intensity," the general said.
Kartapolov also stressed that the objectives of the Russian air strikes are primarily "control centers, warehouses of ammunition and explosives, communications centers, mini-factories for the production of weapons for suicide bombers and militant training camps."
