Gennady Akhramovich: Belarusian athletes always enjoy participation in competitions in Azerbaijan

Belarus is actively studying Azerbaijan's experience in organizing high-level international gymnastics tournaments, Belarusian ambassador to Azerbaijan Gennady Akhramovich said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza on the sidelines of the final day of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku.

"The arenas of Baku have special aura, they help Belarusian athletes to perform successfully. Tournaments in Baku confirm that all contradictions and conflicts must be resolved just in all sports. I'm always happy to attend international competitions in Baku, and it's especially great when our athletes perform and get medals," he said.

"I often visit the National Gymnastics Arena, several times a year. It's a magnificent sports arena, the level of competitions here are an example for other countries and organizers. Our athletes, coaches and organizers often come here to study the experience of our Azerbaijani colleagues and share our own experience in holding such kind of competitions, especially since Belarus will host the second European Games in 2019," he noted.

Gennady Akhramovich stressed that sport is one of the spheres that show high level of development of the Belarusian-Azerbaijani relations, built on mutual respect. "The performances of our athletes at various arenas of Azerbaijan, as well as performances of Azerbaijani athletes in the Republic of Belarus show that relations between the two states are exemplary," he concluded.

The final day of FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup has kicked off today at National Gymnastics Arena in Baku. In total, 102 gymnasts from 25 countries take part in the competitions.
