Georgia conducts nationwide anti-corruption crackdown

Georgia's State Security Service (SSS) reported conducting a large-scale corruption sweep throughout several regions.

"A total of 21 people have been detained and charged in connection with corruption crimes uncovered in seven different criminal cases",

State Security Service of Georgia said.

Authorities clarified most investigations involve military conscription deferment schemes and falsified medical documentation.

Medical professionals including doctors and nurses are among those detained, facing potential nine-year imprisonment sentences based on conviction severity and culpability levels.
