A new monument dedicated to King Heraclius II of Georgia was unveiled in Tbilisi's Samgori Park during an official ceremony attended by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. He emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory for Georgians. A dignified future, according to Kobakhidze, can only be created by preserving the past.

"This is what our country needs. We must cherish our roots. A country that does not cherish its roots will never create a worthy future. Our capital needs further improvement, landscaping, and development",

Irakli Kobakhidze said.

Heraclius II was the first Georgian monarch to secure the country's incorporation into the Russian Empire.Historical sources note that Irakli II is known as the ruler who united the Georgian principalities into a single state. Irakli II also made significant efforts to free his people from foreign influence.

The opening was timed to coincide with the anniversary of Georgia's incorporation into the Russian Empire
