Georgia prefers to purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia. The Union of Petroleum Products Importers of Georgia announced that the amount of the deliveries grew 1.8 times this May compared to May 2023.
According to the Georgian media, 7.45 thousand tons of Russian LNG were imported into Georgia in May. It is 3.47 thousand tons or 87.2% more than in the same period last year. 99.9%, or 7.44 thousand tons, of the total import volume came from Russia, Trend reports.
Georgia also began to purchase more Russian bitumen. In May, its imports increased by 22% compared to May 2023 and amounted to 18.3 thousand tons. Iraq is its main supplier, while Russia came in second place with 12% of supplies.
