Georgia passes pandemic fifth wave’s peak

Georgia passed the peak of the fifth COVID-19 wave in November, the head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, Amiran Gamkrelidze said, adding that the number of cases is currently decreasing.

"We passed the peak period of the fifth wave in November," he said, noting that it is still too early to relax, as respiratory viruses are active.

The doctor also noted that the number of cases is decreasing at a low rate every day. "The number of daily recorded cases fluctuates between 3,500-4,500," Sputnik Georgia quotes Gamkrelidze as saying.
