Georgia reports 229 new COVID-19 cases

Georgia has reported 229 new Covid-19 cases, 2,993 recoveries, and 12 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the last 14 days stands at 4.39 percent.

Overall 8,403 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia. A total of 5,460 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 3,749 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 1,711 were PCR tests. 1,646,545 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 1,621,396 of 1,646,545 patients have recovered, while 16,720 have died from the virus.

The new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases. A total of 638 are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. Currently, 164 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. 7,765 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,359,308 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,255,873 people have been fully vaccinated amounting to 43.5 percent of the country’s adult population and 238,083 have received booster shots of the vaccine.
