Georgia reports 578 new COVID-19 cases

Georgia has reported 578 new Covid-19 cases, 389 recoveries, and three deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the last 14 days stands at 2.61 percent. 

Overall 4,189 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 24,540 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 22,012 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 2,528 were PCR tests.  1,650,008 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 1,629,032 of 1,650,008 patients have recovered, while 16,761 have died from the virus.

The new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases. A total of 482 are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. Currently, 121 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. 3,707 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,362,040 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,257,404 people have been fully vaccinated amounting to 43.8 percent of the country’s adult population and 243,038 have received booster shots of the vaccine.
