Georgia reports 872 new COVID-19 cases

Georgia has reported 872 new Covid-19 cases, 913 recoveries, and 18 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the last seven days stands at 6.61 percent.

Overall 28,970 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia. A total of 18,331 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 15,623 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 2,708 were PCR tests. 1,640,550 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 1,594,924 of 1,640,550 patients have recovered, while 16,630 have died from the virus. The new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

A total of 920 are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. Currently, 249 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. 28,050 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,355,347 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,253,112 people have been fully vaccinated amounting to 43.5 percent of the country’s adult population and 231,432 have received booster shots of the vaccine.
