Georgia's Culture Museum may be placed in Avlabari presidential palace

The Avlabari Presidential Palace can be transformed into a cultural museum, member of the Georgian Dream ruling party Mamuka Mdinaradze said.

He said a working group has been launched in order to take a final decision regarding the presidential palace which is going to be made public in the nearest future.

"The group will hold meetings with different social groups and representations. I suggest the decision will be one of the most positive," Agenda.ge cited Mdinaradze as saying.

Georgia’s president Salome Zurabishvili has relocated the presidential residence from the Presidential Palace in Avlabari district to an alternative location on Atoneli Street.

In 2013 About 25 million GEL was spent on the renovation of the Orbeliani Palace, built in the 18th century. and it was expected that former president Giorgi Margvelashvili would move there after winning the presidential elections.

The Presidential Palace in Avlabari was built on the order of former United National Movement president Mikheil Saakashvili; construction was completed in 2009.
