Georgian children with cardiac defects will have the opportunity to undergo surgery at the Geneva University Hospital: a quota is allocated in Georgia's 2026 state budget.

Georgia's draft state budget for next year includes an expansion of the program for overseas medical treatment for minors: while the state previously covered medical services in hospitals in Germany and Turkiye, starting in 2026, Georgian children will also be sent to clinics in Switzerland.

This refers to medical services that Georgia cannot provide itself, primarily heart surgery. A quota ofa ten children with cardiac defects is allocated for 2026 for surgeries in Switzerland.
