Georgia to spend billions of dollars on schools

A total of 7 billion GEL (about $2.61billion) will be spent on the construction of new schools and the renovation of old ones, Georgia's Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said.

"We need about 7 billion GEL worth of schools in every village, region and town of Georgia to be equipped with the latest technology; where it will be possible to give lessons along European standards," Agenda,ge cited the PM as saying.

According to him, building new schools is important to make more places available for the pupils at schools, so the number of pupils in class should not exceed 13-15.

"During the next 5-6 years we will solve this problem across the country," Bakhtadze promised.
