Georgian PM and Turkish envoy discuss strategic partnership

Georgian-Turkish relations and further development of their strategic partnership were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Turkish Ambassador Fatma Geren Yazgan. 

The meeting focused on the situation in the Black Sea region, with the PM stressing “peace and stability” remained a precondition for regional development and long-term prosperity, the Government Administration said.

The sides also reviewed the South Caucasus Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative of the Georgian Prime Minister, pointing out the country’s support of peaceful cooperation and coexistence in the South Caucasus and readiness to facilitate a regional dialogue.

Garibashvili and Yazgan discussed the economic cooperation between the two countries and noted the existing regional projects were a “clear example” of efficient strategic cooperation and reliable partnership between their states.

In what was a farewell meeting before the end of the Ambassador’s term in Georgia, the Georgian Government head thanked the Turkish diplomat for her efforts in developing a “strategic partnership” between the two countries.
