Georgian President offers condolences over Kemerovo fire

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili offered his condolences to the Russian people for a fire claiming the lives of 64 people.

"Shocked with awful Kemerovo tragedy where people, many of them children horribly died. My sincere condolences to the families of  victims," he wrote on his Twitter account. 

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili also released a statement over the tragedy. "I would like to express my sorrow over the death of dozens of people, unfortunately including children, at a shopping mall fire in Kemerovo, Russia. I offer my sincere condolences and sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims, and the Russian people,” Agenda.ge cited him as saying.

Russian President Vladimir Putin named criminal negligence and carelessness among the causes of the fire.

A catastrophic blaze broke out on the top floor of the Zimnyaya Vishnya four-story shopping mall in the Siberian city of Kemerovo on March 25, which eventually engulfed an area of 1500 square meters. According to recent reports, the blaze killed 64 people in all, while more than 60 injured requested medical assistance.
