Georgian doctor saves Tunisian wrestler at World Judo Juniors Championships

Georgian judo team doctor Zurab Kakhabrishvili made a vital intervention to help save teenage wrestler from Tunisia Chaima Sidaoui at the ongoing World Judo Juniors Championships in Ecuador, the Georgian Sports Medicine Association said on Thursday.

Sidaoui had lost consciousness after a challenge by her opponent, Pihla Salonen of Finland, in round one of the -52kg weight category of the competition.

Noticing the Tunisian athlete required assistance, the referee first called the medical personnel of the tournament, the Georgian Association said, adding the situation only recovered after Kakhabrishvili rushed to the scene and provided the closed chest cardiac massage.
