Khinkali has become one of the most popular dough-and-meat dishes in the world. According to Tasteatlas magazine, the leaders of the rating are Chinese and Japanese dishes.
Georgian khinkali took the 13th place in the rating of the most popular dough-and- meat dishes by the Testeatlas gastroportal.
The compilers of the list were impressed by the ritual of eating the national dish by grabbing a khinkali by the tail so that the soup does not leak out. The knob is left on a plate.
The authors also emphasize the influence of the region on the dish. They note the popularity of lamb khinkali and vegetarian versions made with Imeretian cheese or mushrooms.
The leader of the rating is the Chinese jiaozi, made from a thinly rolled piece of dough with meat or vegetables. Second place is taken by another dish from China - bao. It is made from mantou bread with various fillings. The Japanese gyoza in the shape of a crescent is on the third place.
