Private First Class Vasil Kuljanishvili from the 43rd infantry battalion, serving in Afghanistan, was killed while on patrol, the Georgian Ministry of Defense said.
Another Georgian serviceman from the same battalion was wounded. His life is not in danger.
Before observing a moment of silence the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, expressed his condolences and said it was a "terrible loss” for the entire nation, Sputnik Georgia reports.
He noted that the state would give 100,000 lari compensation to the family and all funeral expenses would be covered by the state.
