A special laboratory for certification of local wine according to Russian requirements may be created in Georgia, the deputy head of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation said.

According to Dmitry Volvach, the relevant negotiations are already underway.

Import simplification

The deputy minister explained that the parties are preparing a plan for the business council, and this issue is a priority.

Volvach clarified that, firstly, an expert group should be created to deal with the certification of wineries in Georgia.

The second important step is the opening of a laboratory in Georgia, where Georgian wines will be certified in accordance with Russian standards. When the project is implemented, wines from Georgia will no longer be re-certified after being imported to Russia.
