The festival of culture and sport Caucasian Games has taken place for the sixth time. Its participants represented all regions of the North Caucasus Federal District. The team of Dagestan won in the competition with a large advantage.
The deputy head of the department of physical culture and sports of the Ministry of Sports of Russia, Georgy Kabanov, who oversees the development of this industry in the North Caucasus Federal District, noted in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza that this year the Caucasian Games were successful, just as in previous ones.
"The event was supported by the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Culture, as well as with the direct support of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the North Caucasus Federal District and the Ministry for the North Caucasus and the Government of the Republic of Dagestan. All regions of the North Caucasian Federal District participated in the event. 12 national and Olympic sports such as tug of war, belt wrestling, armwrestling, hopping, and lifting weights were represented at the event. The event was held at the highest organizational level," he said.
‘‘Different events were held in the context of this event: a grand gala concert with the participation of all the most famous ensembles of the North Caucasus Federal District such as Vainakh, Kabardinka, Lezginka and Molodost. ‘’The champions were awarded trophies on Sunday night at the central square at the time of a gala concert," Kabanov noted.
‘‘The region that won the game was awarded a grant of 100 million rubles for the development of the material base and sporting infrastructure in the region. I sincerely congratulate the Republic of Dagestan, which won the Caucasian Games with a large advantage,’’ the representative of the Ministry of Sports said.
According to the official, the heads of Dagestan and Ingushetia Ramadan Abdullatipov and Yunus-Bek Yevkurov as well as the head of Minkavkaza Lev Kuznetsov pointed out the high level of the festival.
"The Deputy Minister of Sport Yuri Nagornykh said that the event took place at the highest level. It reflects identity, national art and culture of North Caucasus. The Minister of Sports praised the preparation and the organization of the event in the program Ask the Minister. According to all participants and organizers, the festival also took place at the highest level,’’ he said.
