Germany will not pay for Russian gas supplies in rubles, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner wrote on Twitter on Saturday.
Since April 1, Russia has been accepting gas charges from unfriendly states in rubles. According to the minister, Germany still adheres to the idea of refusing to pay for Russian gas in rubles.
"In the future we will not pay for gas in rubles <...>. We are doing everything possible to become independent from Russia as soon as possible", Lindner said.
Let us remind you that on April 27, Gazprom stopped gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria due to the refusal of these countries to make final settlements in Russian rubles. Berlin said they were concerned about this decision, and did not rule out stopping the supply of Russian gas to Germany.
