The adviser to the President of the Russian Federation on the internet, German Klimenko, stated that Google and Facebook may be blocked in Russia, so sooner or later they have to start to comply with Russian law. However, he clarified that it should not be regarded like the Chinese firewall, since "in order to build that here, it is necessary to have Chinese citizens."
"What happens if the state bans Google and Facebook? The answer is incredibly simple: 'Yandex'and the rest will start to earn more, if they get the biggest piece of the cake. Google eats our pies," gazeta.ru quoted Klimenko as saying.
