The first president of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, supported the actions of Russia, which annexed Crimea.
"I'm always for the free expression of will of people, and the majority in Crimea wanted to reunite with Russia," he stressed.
According to Gorbachev, he would have done the same thing if he was in the same situation as Russian President Vladimir Putin.
