The Russian government is to start subsidizing the tourist project ‘Tea Express’ running in the North Caucasus, the Committee for Tourism of Ingushetia reported.
The decision was taken on January 5th at a meeting in Sochi chaired by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, where the prospects for the development of domestic tourism were discussed.
‘Tea Express’ is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Culture of Russia, the North Caucasus Federal District regions and the JSC ‘Russian Railways’ which has been implemented since April last year. The tourist train is part of the North Caucasus section of the New Silk Road, which runs through Ingushetia, Chechnya, Dagestan, North Ossetia, Stavropol Territory and the Rostov region. The cost of a ticket on it is about 15 thousand rubles. For this money tourists can get quality food and a comfortable trip, during which the train repeatedly stops in various cities of the North Caucasus, where the passengers can make sightseeing trips and visit local attractions and museums.
The main idea of the project is to revive travel by tourist train, as well as an attempt to give a new impetus to cooperation among the Russian regions in the sphere of exciting excursions and holiday tours.

He noted that last year the republic was visited by 25 thousand people, which is 20% higher than in 2014.
