The Greek authorities have sent additional police force units to the island of Kos, as the social situation there is very tense due to the large influx of migrants and refugees from the East.
According to UN data, about 124 thousand refugees and migrants have arrived in Greece since the start of 2015, mostly from Syria and Afghanistan. Local media write that every day 800 people arrive on the island.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras asked the EU for help in this matter, as his country's infrastructure cannot cope with the influx of migrants, RIA Novosti reports.
