Being in Syria, a journalist of the Guardian has written an article that ordinary Syrians consider Russian servicemen as heroes, who can rescue the country from terrorists.
‘’Russian servicemen are heroes of the day. People greet the Russians who are in Syria, briskly saying "good day" in Russian and publicly thank President Vladimir Putin, who will save them from terrorism, ib their opinion. Many people believe that the West supported Islamic State,’’ wrote the editor of Channel 4 News Lindsay Heelsum.
The journalist wrote in her article about the typical logic of the pro-Assad citizens. They believe that the US coalition has no interest in a victory over IS, as after the beginning of the antiterrorist operation, IS managed to strengthen its positions.
At the same time, Lindsay Heelsum noted that residents of those cities, which haven’t been greatly affected by the war, cannot understand all the negative emotions of residents in the occupied settlements regarding Bashar al-Assad.
The Guardian journalist also noted that residents of Latakia are watching Russian aviation with admiration, RIA Novosti reports.
